
President Park Geun-hye Monday pledged her government will help the country's broadcasting industry build a "creative media ecosystem" so it can serve as the core of the government's "creative economy." Park's creative economy vision focuses on building the country's economic growth through the convergence of information, communications technology and culture as well as other sectors to create new business opportunities. Speaking to a gathering of people in Seoul celebrating "Broadcasting Day," Park lauded South Korea's broadcasting industry for "having grown into a global industry participated in by a number of business partners both at home and abroad She also praised Korea for having a "creative ecosystem in which a variety of services and business models are being developed on the basis of new ideas and technologies." Park stressed the need for the country to develop quality content and new technology that would allow easier access to the content.
