Russia must promote its weapons to surpass global competitors, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said Wednesday. Huge work has been done to allow Russia to become a world leaders in arms sales, Medvedev said in an address to the Federal Military-Technical Cooperation Service, which turns 60 Wednesday. He said multipurpose weapons and equipment have been in high demand on the global arms market. Russian weapon exports reached a record high of 15.2 billion U.S. dollars last year, President Vladimir Putin said in April. Russian-made weapons are supplied to 66 countries, Putin said. He noted that Russia has military-technical cooperation agreements with 85 countries and enjoys broad prospects for forging closer military ties with many countries.
