Russia will deliver an additional 100,000 tons of wheat as relief supplies to Nicaragua. Russian Deputy Agriculture Minister Ilya Shestakov and Nicaraguan Ambassador in Russia Luis Molina Quadra signed the agreement to this effect, representatives of the Nicaraguan government said on Tuesday. The total cost of Russian wheat supplies, which will begin already this year, makes more than 30 million dollars. Wheat will be delivered by sea to the Nicaraguan port Corinto, which is situated on the Pacific coast of this Central American country. Under the agreement signed in 2011 Nicaragua has already received 100,000 tons of wheat from Russia at a total cost of $35.2 million. Nicaragua “highly values Russian humanitarian aid, local bread producers note the perfect quality of wheat delivered from Russia,” Russian Ambassador in Managua Nikolai Vladimir told Itar-Tass. Thanks to this aid to the Central American country Russia has made an important contribution to provide with food the population of the republic, a large part of which lives in poverty.
