Saudi to employ 28000 locals as cab drivers

Saudi Arabia is to push some 28,000 of its citizens into jobs as cab drivers, according to reports by local media. The Kingdom’s labour ministry is working on a plan to replace expatriate drivers with Saudi nationals, offering them a monthly salary of at least SR5,000. There are also plans to encourage young Saudi drivers to own a limousine of their own. The oil rich Gulf state has more than 43,000 limousines owned by 1,375 companies, with Saudis accounting for just 15,000 of the drivers and 28,000 being foreigners, according to Arab News.
