A number of men in Saudi Arabia have gone on trial over allegations they plotted to assassinate two regional rulers and bomb foreign compounds in the capital Riyadh. The 50 defendants, on trial at the kingdom's Specialised Penal Court, are accused of being part of a Saudi terror cell. Charges levelled by the Prosecutor General against one of the men include planning to assassinate two emirs. Another allegedly targeted compounds housing foreign workers and a public security building, the Saudi Gazette reported. Of the 50 on trial, 47 are Saudi Arabian nationals, two are Syrian and one is Yemeni. Some are accused of holding ties to Islamic militant organisation Al Qaeda. The case continues.
