
The Bank of Korea says South Korea’s per capita gross national income (GNI) topped 26-thousand US dollars last year.The central bank announced on Wednesday that the nation’s per capita GNI stood at 26-thousand-205 dollars last year. That’s up one-thousand-509 dollars, or around 6%, from 2012, according to Korea’s (KBS WORLD) website.The nation’s per capita GNI exceeded 20-thousand dollars for the first time in 2007 then fell below that threshold during the global financial crisis between 2008 and 2009. In 2011, the figure stood at 24-thousand-302 dollars and grew by 394 dollars in 2012.GNI is a gauge of a population’s purchasing power from income earned both at home and abroad.
