Major construction companies will explore upcoming tender opportunities for the development of cost-effective and durable bridge and tunnel projects in Saudi Arabia at a key summit in Jeddah next week. Being held from March 17-18, the Bridges & Tunnels Roadshow is the Kingdom’s leading annual event dedicated to designing, planning, delivering and maintaining world-class bridges and tunnels, said event organizer IQPC. Ministries, municipalities and transport authorities throughout the Kingdom continue to develop and integrate a wealth of bridge and tunnel projects to improve congestion and access to the public and industrial transportation networks, upgrade existing infrastructure networks and create new rail links, they added. “This event is a good opportunity for sharing knowledge and experience with professionals and to hear about new construction materials, methods and best-practice case studies,” remarked Khaled Farag Mostafa, the principal bridge design engineer, Saudi Consulting Services (Saudconsult). The annual summit, to be held with the support of Jeddah Mayor Hani bin Mohamed bin Ahmed Abu Ras at the Movenpick in Jeddah, will bring together local, regional and international experts of the construction industry. The speakers at the summit include Adnan Kassab, VP, Saudconsult; Ebrahim A. Al-Babtain, director of Bridges Department, Ministry of Transport; Shahid S. Khan, project director-North South Railway Project, Saudi BinLadin Group; Asad Ali, engineering manager, Al-Rajhi Alliance-project management office (PMO); Bodo Kern, general manager, Herrenknecht Saudi Arabia; Sultan H. Al-Zahrani, secretary general for EP Traffic Safety Council, and director traffic safety signature program (TSSP), Saudi Aramco. “We are looking forward to enhance relations with new clients within the government as well as private companies for infrastructure projects in order to offer our expertise and wide range of services,” said Peter Brechtelsbauer, CEO of Mena for Waagner Biro Gulf, a major exhibitor at the event. arab news
