Turkey, South Korea to cooperate in construction projects

Korean Minister of Land Transportation and Infrastructure Seoung-Hwan Suh said Korea- with its experience and expertise- will cooperate with Turkey- with its grand economic power- in other countries. Emphasizing the importance of infrastructure in the economic development of a country, Suh in a speech in Istanbul, defended that the Turkish Ministry of Economy has significant expertise in finance and that Turkey, as a geographical bridge between Asia and Europe, can be a cultural and economic bridge for Asian countries such as South Korea.   In addition to Korean Contractors Association Vice Chairman Soong-Chull Shin, the meeting was also attended by Turkey's Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges vice Chairman, and member of the Foreign Economic Relations Board of Managers, Halim Mete and Turkish Minister of Economy Zafer Caglayan. Speaking at the meeting, Caglayan stated that  he Turkish-Korean Cooperation and Contracting in Central Asia Meeting brought together two super powers in the construction sector, and that he believed that these two powers can achieve important grand projects. Caglayan emphasized that the cooperation between the two countries goes back decades, stating that the contractors of these two countries came together to rehabilitate the infrastructure of Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. Caglayan also stated that Turkish contractors have a well esteemed position in the world as they have projects in 101 countries amounting 254 billion dollars.
