
The United Arab Emirates has handed in USD 110 million as part of pledges it made at two consecutive donors'''' conferences for displaced Syrians held in Kuwait on 2013 and 2014.The announcement was made by Minister of Development and International Cooperation Sheikha Lubna Bint Khaled Al-Qasimi, on Tuesday, who added that the UAE pledged a total USD 360 million at both events hosted by Kuwait.The Kuwait-held talks resulted in total pledges worth a collective some USD four billion aimed at providing humanitarian assistance to displaced Syrians inside their country and in countries neighbouring their own.The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al-Nahyan had announced a pledge of USD 300 million at the first meeting, with UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al-Nahyan announcing the remaining USD 60 million at the next.
