The UN food programme said Tuesday that it plans to increase food deliveries to reach half a million people in Syria in the coming weeks, up from 100,000 currently. Even before the violence broke out, some 1.4 million people were finding it hard to get enough to eat because of droughts in previous years, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in Geneva was quoted as disclosing by DPA. "As the conflict continues, Syrians in areas affected by the violence are struggling to feed their families and WFP is deeply concerned about the potential for food insecurity," said WFP Executive Director Ertharin Cousin.
