Unemployment rates fell in about two-thirds of U.S. cities last month, despite zero job growth nationally, the government reported Wednesday. The Labor Department said unemployment rates fell in 237 of the country's biggest metropolitan areas in August from July. Rates rose in 103 and were unchanged in 32. The August results were an improvement from July, when rates fell in 193 areas and rose in 118. The U.S. economy added no net jobs in August, the least amount of hiring in nearly a year. The national unemployment rate remained at 9.1 percent for the second consecutive month.
