Japanese actress Haru Kuroki won Silver Bear for Best Actress for her excellent performance in the film "The Little House" in the 64th Berlin International Film Festival on Saturday. "The Little House", adapted from an award-winning novel and directed by Japanese veteran director Yoji Yamada, tells a story of an old Japanese lady who recorded her family's life in Tokyo before and during the Second World War in several pages of written lines. It also unfolds Japanese politics and society at that time. In the awarding ceremony, Kuroki said she was not expecting the award, "It's only because director Yamada has made such a wonderful film that I'm able to stand up here this evening."
