Actor and former TV personality Alec Baldwin says in an essay in New York magazine he is leaving public life and his longtime home of New York City. "I've lived this for 30 years, I'm done with it," Baldwin writes in his 5,000-word article, announcing his plans to move to Los Angeles. "I'm aware that it's ironic that I'm making this case in the media, but this is the last time I'm going to talk about my personal life in an American publication ever again," he said, adding 2013 "was actually a great year, because my wife and I had a baby. But, yeah, everything else was pretty awful." The Emmy Award-winning actor was fired from his MSNBC talk show last year, reportedly as the result of behavior issues in the studio, including his attitude toward co-workers, as well as for a high-profile incident in which he hurled a gay slur at a photographer he said was harassing him on a Manhattan street. "I haven't changed, but public life has," he said in his essay. "Now I loathe and despise the media in a way I did not think possible," he said. "Paparazzi today are part of a network that includes the Huffington Post and, much to my dismay, even NBC News, in their reliance on tabloid reporting."
