A stunt double for Angelina Jolie said her suit against News Corp., which she accuses of hacking her phone, belongs in the United States, not Britain. Eunice Huthart accused News Corp. of allegedly intercepting her voice mail messages in order to gain juicy gossip about Brad Pitt and Jolie, with whom she became close friends after working on the film "Mr. and Mrs. Smith." Huthart said her lawsuit belongs in California because many of the potential witnesses her lawyers might call are located in the United States, The Hollywood Reporter said. "Some of plaintiff's potential witnesses who are involved with her and/or [Huthart's company] Pump Fitness, such as Ms. Jolie, are located in California," the suit said. In September, News Corp said the suit should be transferred to Britain, where 600 phone hacking claims were being processed under a voluntary compensation scheme or in the English High Court. Huthart's lawyers said the British victims of the scandal aren't receiving justice under the scheme. "No claimant has proceeded to a hearing, not because applicants are satisfied with the compensation scheme, but because [News International] controls the scheme and decides whom to accept into it," Huthart's attorneys said. "This is not a sign of success. ...This system is unfair to claimants and effectively prevents claimants from having their day in court and from getting to the bottom of defendants' wrongdoing toward them."
