Scottish actor Ewan McGregor is to make his Broadway debut in the revival of Tom Stoppard's play "The Real Thing," producers announced Thursday. The Roundabout Theatre Company production is to be directed by Sam Gold. Preview performances are scheduled to begin Oct. 2, 2014, with an official opening set for Oct. 30, 2014, at the American Airlines Theatre on Broadway. This is a limited engagement through Jan. 4, 2015. The full cast and design team will be announced shortly, the company said in a news release. Another Roundabout production will be announced shortly for the American Airlines Theatre in the spring 2014. Stoppard's Best Play Tony Award winner "The Real Thing" premiered Nov. 16, 1982, at The Strand Theatre in London. It was last produced on Broadway 14 years ago. "Henry is a playwright not so happily married to Charlotte, the lead actress in his play about a marriage on the verge of collapse," a synopsis of the play said. "When Henry's affair with their friend Annie threatens to destroy his own marriage, he discovers that life has started imitating art." McGregor's film credits include the upcoming "August: Osage County," as well as three "Star Wars" prequels and the movie musical "Moulin Rouge."
