Katherine Jackson says Paris, the troubled 15-year-old daughter of her late son Michael, is on the mend after a June suicide attempt in California. Katherine told Hello! magazine her granddaughter is "getting the help she needs." "She is in a good place," the 83-year-old Jackson family matriarch told the magazine, adding the teen is "doing much better." Paris was hospitalized in June after she ingested numerous Motrin pills and slashed her arm. "She's my baby," Katherine said. "It's hard for me, really hard. All I wanted these kids to be is happy. The night [Michael] died, Paris was crying and said: 'I want to go and see Daddy. I don't want to be without him.' They were sheltered a lot when Michael raised them. I had thought about it and I said, 'I am not going to raise them like that.' But Michael had a good reason. He was trying to protect them. ... He instilled good manners, but it's a different generation, of course, and I don't understand the whole social media thing. They are always on their phones." E! News said Paris has been under a doctor's care since she was released from the hospital this summer. Michael died in June 2009 at the age of 50. His private physician is serving a four-year prison sentence for involuntary manslaughter for administering lethal levels of sedatives and anesthesia to the pop music icon to help him sleep.
