Political officials in India said they asked London-born singer of Indian-Pakistani origin Adnan Sami to leave the country because his visa has expired. Amey Khopkar, the nationalist political party Maharashtra Navnirman Sena film wing chief, met with Sami, 44, Sunday to discuss his status in India, the Indo-Asian News Service reported. "We summoned him after getting complaints from various quarters that his visa had expired on Oct. 6 and that he was staying in India illegally," Khopkar said. Sami told Khopkar his visa was in the process of being renewed. "We hope that he leaves the country immediately and returns only after his visa has been renewed," Khopkar said. The issue of Sami's expired visa came to light during hearings for his ongoing divorce and property case with former second wife Sabah Galadri. Sami has been living and working in India for the past 14 years. He sings and composes music in both English and Hindi and does playback singing in Bollywood.
