Filmmaker and actor Tyler Perry says white police officers harassed him because he is black when they pulled him over for making an illegal turn in Atlanta. The writer, director and star of the Madea film franchise lives in Georgia. Forbes last year named Perry, also the creator of several popular sitcoms, the highest-paid man in the entertainment industry. He wrote on Facebook he told officers he made the illegal left turn from the far right lane because he was instructed by his security guards that was a good way to determine if someone was following him, the New York Daily News reported. Perry said the officers who pulled him over didn't recognize him and when he explained his actions, one of them asked, "Why do you think someone would be following you?" Perry said both continued to "badger him" until another police car pulled up and a black officer got out and recognized him, the Daily News said. The Atlanta Police Department told E! News it is investigating "whether any departmental policies or procedures were violated" during the incident. The Daily News said it is unclear whether Perry was cited for the illegal turn.
