Actress Shabnam and her musician husband Robin Ghosh were set to leave for Dhaka by a PIA flight at midday on Monday, their hosts here said on Sunday. They attended a reception hosted in their honour by Senior Sindh Minister Pir Mazharul Haq at a hotel in the evening, which was the last one in a string of receptions and programmes held in Karachi as well as in Lahore to welcome the popular showbiz couple. Talking to Dawn, she said she was overwhelmed by the affection showered on her by her Pakistani friends and fans during her visit. “It was much more than I had expected,” she said over the phone in the afternoon, when she said she was in a market – naturally busy doing bits of shopping for her people back in Bangladesh. Shabnam arrived in Karachi with her husband on April 23 to attend a PTV live programme. She met the ailing maestros of their respective crafts actor Lehri and musician Mehdi Hasan besides politicians, showbiz and media people. In Lahore, where she had worked for decades in the once flourishing film industry, she met film personalities of her time and attended receptions, including one hosted by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani at the Governor’s House.
