Little rain in N Korea affecting farms

A drought in North Korea's western coastal region may seriously affect the country's food production this year, North Korea's state-run media said Saturday. North Korea's capital city of Pyongyang has received .07 inches of rainfall since April 26, while .19 inches of rain fell in Haeju of South Hwanghae province during the same time, South Korea's Yonhap news agency reported. The (North) Korean Central News Agency reported that if there is no rainfall by the end of the month, the drought in the country will be the worst recorded since 1962. KCNA said advanced weather forecasts indicate that little rainfall is expected in June, which can affect food production this year.
