
Legendary Ferrari coachbuilder Sergio Scaglietti has passed away, aged 91.The Italian designer founded his Carrozzeria Scaglietti in 1951 and soon became indelibly linked with Maranello, fast becoming Enzo Ferrari's great friend and ally. He was responsible for some of the most iconic Ferraris ever made, including the 250 GT California and the 250 GTO.He was famed for making cars using "his hands and his eyes", and Ferrari even named the more recent 612 after him to celebrate his contributions.Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemelo said: "We lost a friend, a travel companion and a man who had his name forever connected to the Prancing Horse. Sergio Scaglietti leaves behind the legacy of an artist who with his talent created some of the most beautiful cars of our history."Ah yes, those ‘beautiful cars'.
