GM Daewoo rolls out new Alpheon luxury sedan

GM Daewoo Auto & Technology, the South Korean unit of U.S. automaker General Motors Co., rolled out its new luxury sedan Alpheon for sale in the domestic market. The 2012 Alpheon, based on GM's Buick LaCrosse, will be powered by a 2.4 liter engine with the carmaker targeting young socially climbing professionals as potential customers. It said the vehicle, which is the flagship model of the carmaker, has improved acceleration of the 2011 vehicle but has better fuel economy. The car has a fuel economy of 11.3 kilometers per liter of fuel compared to 10.6 kilometers for the older model and features such safety features as an inbuilt lane departure warning system. In addition, the car will have an 8-inch color audio system touch screen and electronic toll collection system. The sedan will be priced at up to 35.53 million won (US$30,900) for the top-end premium model, with the price falling to 30.54 million won for the base deluxe vehicle.
