
Hyundai Motor Co. and its affiliate Kia Motors Corp. reported record sales in the Chinese market last month thanks to their attractively designed cars with superior performance, the carmakers said Tuesday. The two companies, which are the flagships of Hyundai Motor Group, the world's fifth-largest automaker, said their combined sales reached 116,763 units in September. The total surpasses the previous monthly record of 111,177 cars reached in January. Hyundai said sales of cars made by its joint venture Beijing Hyundai Motor Co. reached 73,255 in the cited month, while sales by Dongfeng Yueda Kia Automobile Co., a Kia-invested carmaker, reached 43,508 units.
