Exciting news for all you Range Rover fans – which means we’re talking to the entire population of the UAE. Well, the loaded ones anyway. The next generation model has been caught testing by our trusted spy. Hiding in trees all day long has its benefits after all… The new Rangey, codenamed the L405, looks longer than the current model doing the rounds in Jumeirah. That means there will be more space in the interior. And just take a look at that lowered roofline. It’s taken design cues from the Evoque it seems. It gives the boxy SUV a sportier look. It’s expected to feature a light-weight rivet-bonded chassis which sheds roughly 365kg of its total weight. And, it’ll also be using advanced composites for some of its body panels and rear tailgate. Under the bonnet, we expect the current engine line-up to be carried over but the naturally aspirated and supercharged 5.0-litre V8s mated to the eight-speed auto should make more power. There will be a couple of new diesel units but we won’t be getting those here. However, look out for a hybrid version that sips just 8 litres-per-100km. Now that would be interesting.
