Renault Samsung Motors Co., the South Korean unit of French automaker Renault SA, said Wednesday that it received the top consumer satisfaction review for the 10th year in a row thanks to good quality control and after-sales service. The carmaker, citing the 2011 Marketing Insight report that carried out an online poll on 97,356 people who owned a Renault Samsung vehicle or had plans to buy one, said of the eight categories checked, it came out ahead of competitors in six. The automotive research and marketing firm checks such areas as overall quality and durability of cars, design, product value, after-sales service and overall satisfaction of driving vehicles made by local carmakers. The poll has been carried out since 2002 and released as a quality control white paper for locally made vehicles. "Renault Samsung vehicles far outpaced rivals in general quality and durability allowing them to receive high consumer satisfaction numbers," the company said. It added that every effort will be made in the future to retain the trust of South Korean consumers. The latest Marketing Insight report, meanwhile, showed Hyundai Motor Co., South Korea's largest automaker, receiving the second-highest marks followed by its affiliate Kia Motors Corp. GM Korea Co., the South Korean unit of U.S. automaker General Motors Co., came in fourth with Ssangyong Motor Co. coming in last.
