The 2014 Silverado Light Duty, an off-road truck from Chevrolet, has bagged the 4x4 of the Year award from Saudi Auto, a leading motoring magazine. The vehicle recently swept the 2014 North American Truck of the Year award, Four Wheeler’s 2014 Pickup Truck of the Year honor and the Best 4x4 of the Year title from Car and Driver Middle East, a statement said. The 2014 Silverado’s roster of new features includes a trio of all-new EcoTec3 engines, a V-6 and two V-8s; a stronger, quieter and more comfortable cab; a refined new interior with an excellent connectivity through MyLink infotainment system; revised steering, suspension and brakes for improved ride and handling; and, smart solutions for cargo management such as CornerStep bumper and handholds built into the box rail protectors. “We are immensely proud that the all-new 2014 Silverado has received Saudi Auto’s coveted 4x4 of the Year title – especially considering we were up against such steep competition,” said Markus Leithe, regional marketing director of GM Middle East Operations. “This award is an excellent validation of the vehicle’s immaculate design – which blends strong Chevrolet truck heritage with a modern aesthetic. Straddling functionality and refinement, the 2014 Silverado will continue its leadership in the full-size pickup segment.” “The Chevrolet Silverado has deservedly won Saudi Auto’s 4x4 of the Year Award 2014 by virtue of its merits,” said Bakur Azher, editor-in-chief of Saudi Auto. “The most notable clincher for this prestigious title was the big leap forward from the previous model in terms of increased cabin space, improved on and off-road capabilities, advancements in technology, a powerful and highly efficient engine, low fuel consumption and excellent insulation from noise. To top it all off, there is the reasonable price, making the Chevrolet Silverado a clear winner.” The 2014 Silverado’s available 6.2L V-8 engine provides 420hp of power 624 Nm of torque. It also offers class-leading maximum available towing capability of 5,443kg. The 5.3L V-8 delivers fuel economy of up to 10.2 litres/100km highway, the best of any V-8 pickup, and the 4.3L V-6 offers available towing ratings of up to 3,447 kg and payload up to 956 kg, the highest for any base V-6 in the segment.
