Dubai - Arabstoday
His Highness Shaikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, said that the achievements of UAE universities in higher education reflect the country’s flourishing civilisation and progress, led by the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. “The education sector in the UAE has made quantum leaps in the right direction,” he said. The Ruler was speaking at the graduation ceremony of the 20th batch of the Ajman University of Science and Technology, covering 44 majors, on Tuesday. The event was attended by Shaikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman; Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research; a number of Shaikhs, ambassadors, senior officials and dignitaries. Dr Saeed Abdullah Salman, President of the Ajman University, said the varsity, since its inception in 1988, has paid much attention to tutoring, research, training, expertise and practicing. “The vision of the Ajman University network is based on three main dimensions which are education, information and investment,” he added. Dr Salman said the Ajman University network, as per a recent study, comes on top of the higher education institutions in the country in terms of its history as well as the number of graduates. Paying a tribute to the support of Shaikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Mohammed Al Shehi, the representative of the graduates, said the university has always been their second home where they learn how to serve their country as due. “We take the chance to pledge anew our dedication to our prudent leadership.” Congratulating the graduates, Dr Farouk Al Baz, the renowned Egyptian scholar and geologist said they are for the first time responsible to learn on their own.
