American Airlines, a founding member of the oneworld® alliance, today announced that Brazilian travel technology company Wooba has agreed to use American’s direct connect link to access American’s travel products, services and personalisation capabilities. “American’s direct connect technology will add value for our consolidator, tour operator and agency clients,” said Jackson Fernando, Director for Wooba. “Its new functionality, including Electronic Miscellaneous Document (“EMD”) capability, allows simple access to travel innovations that enhance opportunities for travel providers and travelers.” In May, a Wooba client issued the first EMD by a travel agency in Latin America by using American’s direct connect technology. EMDs facilitate paperless fulfillment of airlines’ optional services, such as American’s Preferred Seats, using more consumer-friendly and efficient technology than commonly used today. Preferred Seats provide customers the option to select and reserve more desirable seats.
