Mr. Witthaya Pewpong, governor of Ayutthaya, revealed that as a consequence of the recent visit by His Majesty the King and the royal family to Thung Makham Yong, coupled with the province’s revival after the flooding disaster, as well as its flood preparation measures, the overall image of the province has improved. At present, a large number of both Thai and foreign tourists are coming to the province, raising the number of visitors to Ayutthaya by 30%. The governor said the province had received government allocations to finance important projects, including anti-flooding measures. Mr. Witthaya further made known that the province has been continuously working with the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Ayutthaya office, in drawing up each year a calendar containing monthly tourism events. The latest calendar shows there will be activities to celebrate the relations between Ayutthaya and Sri Lanka during August 2 to 4, at the old city hall. With the help of tourism calendars, it is expected that the economy of the province will be boosted through promotion of tourism events. From thainews
