Donald Trump has inaugurated his new £750 million golf course in, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, joined by a host of international players. The Trump International Golf Links, situated on the Menie Estate, will open to the public on Sunday. Colin Montgomerie, Paul Lawrie and Martin Laird were all on hand for the opening today. Objections from the Scottish Wildlife Trust, which is still calling for golfers to boycott some holes, have been largely overcome during the development of the project. However, Trump has recently raised concerns an offshore wind-farm could harm views for players. In an outspoken attack on Scottish National Party leader Alex Salmond, Trump claimed Scottish independence could be jeopardised if the party refused to take its tourism responsibilities more seriously. Trump International Golf Links The course has taken six years to develop, with plans for a hotel and hundreds of homes still on hold. Mr Trump dedicated the course to the memory of his mother, who was born on the Isle of Lewis. Sarah Malone, the executive vice-president of Trump International Golf Links Scotland, said: “We have several days of events and activities planned to mark the opening of Trump International Golf Links Scotland. “Hundreds of guests will play our championship links course for the first time.”
