Iraqi Airways announced that all Iraqis in Damascus airport have been evacuated. The director of the Iraqi Airways Saad Mehdi told National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) "The airlines have transferred 5000 Iraqis from Damascus airport by 43 trips," noting that "there is no Iraqi at Damascus airport." The government has allocated a number of planes to transport Iraqis living in Syrian capital Damascus, where hundreds of them have been transferred across direct flights between Baghdad and Damascus. Mahdi added "The Iraqi Airways, as directed by Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki and Transport Minister Hadi al-Amiri, harnessed all its possibilities and went to Haleb airport to transfer the Iraqis living there." The Iraqi government decided to send airplanes to the Syrian cities, Haleb and Lathiqia to bring all the Iraqis living there.
