United Airlines has launched its first-ever flights to Turkey with daily nonstop services between Newark Liberty International Airport and Istanbul’s Atatürk International Airport. Flight 904 is scheduled to depart Newark Liberty daily at 19:27 and arrive in Istanbul at 12:20 the next day. The return flight, 905, is scheduled to depart Istanbul daily at 13:55 and arrive in Newark at 18:02 the same day (all times local). Flying times are nine hours, fifty three minutes eastbound, and eleven hours seven minutes westbound. “We are delighted to add Istanbul to our global route network,” said James Mueller, United’s vice president, Atlantic & Pacific Sales. “Customers in the U.S. and Turkey will benefit from increased travel options with this new service.” Initially, the service will operate with a three-cabin Boeing 767-300 aircraft, featuring a total of 183 seats – six in United Global First, 26 in United BusinessFirst and 151 in United Economy, including 67 Economy Plus seats. Later this summer, United plans to fly this route with its newly-configured Boeing 767-300, which features 30 seats in United BusinessFirst, 49 in Economy Plus and 135 in Economy. United’s MileagePlus members can earn double award miles when flying this new service. To qualify, MileagePlus members must book and complete qualifying roundtrips by 30 September 2012 in booking classes F, A, J, C, D, Y, B, or M. Registration is required before travel.
