On the occasion of Martyrs’ Day, an art exhibition embracing 37 paintings, and 16 sculptures by artist Mohammad Hammoud was held Saturday at the Exhibitions Hall at the Arab Cultural Center in Banias city.

The exhibition represents an artistic view about what is taking place in Syria of terrorist acts and destruction and the great steadfastness of the Syrian people and army in the face of all the challenges and difficulties.

The suffering of the Syrian citizens during the four-year crisis and their sacrifices to defend the dignity and pride of the homeland are also clear in the displayed paintings and sculptures.

The paintings also embody the woman which is a symbol of the land and the mother who is the icon of giving.

Hammoud used oil colors, acrylic and lead in his paintings, depending mostly on the scarlet color which is a symbol of the martyrdom of the Syrian youths.
The exhibition is a message to the whole world reflecting the resilience of the Syrian people and stressing that the Syrian people can’t be defeated, Hammoud said.

In his paintings, Hammoud strongly decries the democracy of the West which has destroyed and partitioned the countries of the so-called “Arab Spring”.

The Palestinian cause was also one of the main topics of the exhibition as one of his paintings titled “Rachel” was in honor of the honest American citizen Rachel who came to support the Palestinians and who was killed by an Israeli bulldozer driver while defending her principles in life.

The sculptures, made of olive wood, represent the skulls which have covered the Syrian land and which represent an evidence of the savagery terrorist acts, in addition to representing the process of cutting heads with the chopper with the aim of shedding light on the culture of terrorism which is completely rejected by the Syrian people.

Artist Hammoud has studied drawing at different artistic centers in Damascus and he followed a number of courses and he participated in 42 collective exhibitions in some of the Syrian provinces and this exhibition is his 6th solo art exhibition.
