A number of artists and intellectuals have received an invitation from the Ministry of Culture to meet President Mohamed Morsi. Although the Ministry has given intense secrecy in declaring the full names of those invited, it has confirmed that the Minister of Culture , Mohamed Saber, Director of the
Actors Union in Egypt, Ashraf Abdul Ghafour and First Under Secretary of the Union, Sameh el-Soreity will join the meeting.
Actors Ezzat el-Alayly, Yehia el-Fakhrany, Ahmed Eid and actress Mona Zaki are rumoured to have received invitations. Ezzat revealed that the invitation arrived at a suitable time as he is intrigued to hear what the President has to say about artists in the industry and looks forward to interrogating him about freedom and censorship of cinema.
However, actor Sameh el-Soreity had said that the Actors Unity had not officially declared names but were told that the presidency chose a large list of specific actors, as there are many topics that will be discussed. A few topics of discussion are to include issues related to attacking celebrities and the freedom and limitations of criticism to government institutions.
