Lebanese singer, Waleed Tawfik
Lebanese Waleed Tawfik has told Arabstoday he's happy that the standard of Arab art has increased lately, and that production companies have stopped producing sub-standard
work.
"The wave of artistic decline in the Arab entertainment industry had retreated, and production companies stopped being interested in the bad stuff,” he said.
“I never lost hope, because the original art is well known, and people are fed up of fashion shows and what they call ‘singing’...artists need a voice along with a good appearance...good art has won the battle against the bad!" he said.
Tawfik explained that the crisis of production companies was related to bad trends in artistic works, "like entertainment fast food”.
“They threw money at songs which can be heard only once and made losses on non-artistic cases...people didn’t like them either which led to a double loss. There are some very important sounds and energies in the Arab nations worth producing but it wasn’t attractive enough to some of them.”
Tawfik also said his life story would be adapted for a TV series in a Lebanese-Egyptian co-production and will see light next year.
"For the first time in a TV show I recount my experience in cinema, which I have no doubt is not an easy mission but at the same time it's interesting and different. It’s about my life story including all the details that were never written about before,” he said.
"We will use an actor who looks like me in my early life, then I will show up at the end to continue the events according to time and place, some personal issues will also be reflected within this frame," he added.
He added that he was about to release a new song produced by Lifestyle Company and the shooting of the video would take place soon. He said he was happy to collaborate with singer George Wassouf on three songs in his new album, revealing compositions with a new singer that would be announced soon.
