Pop sensation Lorde is pulling together the music for the next installment of "The Hunger Games," due out in November, the film's producer Lionsgate announced Thursday.
The 17-year-old New Zealander -- who dominated the charts in 2013 with "Royals" -- is "hand-picking" the artists who'll feature in "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay -- Part 1," it said.
She'll also supply the movie's first single -- which, she disclosed on her Twitter account, she's already penned with songwriting partner Joel Little.
"I am so pleased and proud to have been announced the sole curator of the soundtrack for MOCKINGJAY - PART 1," she told her 1.94 million followers.
A global phenomenon when it first hit movie theaters in 2012, "The Hunger Games" stars Jennifer Lawrence as the bow-wielding survivor of a bloody reality TV contest in a dystopian future.
Picking Lorde to "curate" the soundtrack of its third installment dovetails with the franchise's core demographic -- teenagers and young adults.
"I sat down with Lorde on the set of 'Mockingjay' this spring and I was immediately struck by how she so innately understood what we, as both fans and filmmakers, were trying to accomplish with the film," said director Francis Lawrence.
"I can't wait to share what she's done with the fans -- it is truly remarkable."
