Singer Reem Talhami travelled from Jerusalem to sing in Gaza
Palestinians living in the conflict-riddled Gaza strip were treated to a piece of normality on Saturday, when Palestinian singer Reem Talhami staged a concert in the Israel besieged territory.
The singer travelled from Jerusalem to Gaza to perform for the Hamas-movement ruled citizens.
“I’m very happy to be in Gaza. I love this city. When I arrived for the first time, I felt that Israel is the one destroying, and Gazans are those who build,” she told newspaper Al Arabiya.
“She’s not singing things related to blood and missiles. She sings in a different style, yet it still conveys Palestinian suffering,” said one male concert-goer.
Another told Al Arabiya that he hoped more Arab musicians would be granted entry into Gaza, including Lebanese singer Elissa and Egyptian star Amr Diab.
