Cate Blanchett, Sir Ian McKellen and Prince William
London – Caroline Kent
A host of stars gathered in the West End of London for the royal UK premiere of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. The Duke of Cambridge joined them, attending alone since his wife Kate continued to rest at
St James's Palace after being admitted to hospital last week suffering from acute morning sickness.
Cate Blanchett, who plays Galadriel in the film, looked like an ice queen on the green carpet in a backless floor-length white Givenchy gown. She was joined on the Middle-Earth themed set-up by co-star Sir Ian McKellen, who plays the wizard Gandalf. He told press that it was: “great to be in London for a film with a strong British presence.” McKellen revealed on Tuesday that he was secretly diagnosed with prostate cancer seven years ago and originally feared the worse when doctors told him of his condition. However he maintained that the disease is currently “under control.”
