With Geri Halliwell wearing a wholly unsuitable dress and the words “Girl Power” being bandied around aimlessly, you could have been forgiven for thinking you’d time-travelled back in time to 1995. But no, it was just the opening night of Viva
Forever, the musical stage show based on the songs of the Spice Girls. On its opening night at London’s Piccadilly Theatre yesterday all five members were present (although Victoria Beckham, who was joined by her family, remained notably reticent to join in the other girls’ giddy paparazzi-courting). The show, which heavily satirises The X Factor, is based on a story put together by Absolutely Fabulous' Jennifer Saunders, who created a narrative to interweave their hit songs.
