
Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf and Housing Minister Basem bin Yacoub Al-Hamer paid a visit to Sitra and Nabeeh Saleh to inspect citizens’ needs and follow up projects.
The joint visit was in line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa to assess the needs of different areas. The meeting was attended, at the Sitra Sports and Culture Club, by MP Majeed Mohsen Al-Asfoor, dignitaries and citizens. The focus was on upgrading roads and drainage networks, municipal services and housing projects.
Khalaf lauded HRH the Premier’s directives to reach out to citizens, hear their complaints and remarks and find speedy and adequate solutions to address them, describing the meeting as reflecting direct relations between officials and citizens. He stressed plans to build a used water recycling plant with a daily capacity of 16,000 cubic metres per day to serve Sitra, neighbouring villages as well as the industrial zones and Nabeeh Saleh Island. .
He stressed other projects, which were carried out to revamp the roads network in different regions in Sitra and Nabeeh Saleh, pledging other visits to assess the needs of seaports in both areas.
Housing Minister Basem bin Yacoub Al-Hamer lauded HRH the Premier’s directives to inspect the needs of both Sitra and Nabeeh Saleh Island.He said that the ministry had given priority to both areas as per HRH the Premier’s directives. He underlined projects under construction, highlighting particularly the East Sitra residential town. He pointed out the previous directives which were issued by HRH the Premier to build 5000 housing units as part of efforts to meet housing demands in both areas, neighbouring region and the Capital Governorate as a whole.
"The ministry has completed reclamation work for the city which will be financed under the Gulf Development Programme and prepared detailed blueprints of the project," he said. He stressed the ministry’s cooperation with Eskan Bank to explore investment opportunities and engage the private sector in constructing housing units in the city project.
