
Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has been inaugurated as Somalia’s 9th President, the Ethiopian News Agency reported Wednesday.
The presidential inauguration was held with the presence of leaders of African countries including Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Dessalegn and Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Representatives of the African Union, the European Union (EU), the Arab League and the United Nations also attended the ceremony.
Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed, a former Prime Minister of Somalia, has been elected as president after defeating the outgoing president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud after two rounds of voting on 8 February 2017.
