Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab has mourned the death of Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdel Aziz.
"We were saddened by the news," Mahlab said on Friday.
King Abdullah died in the early hours of the day at a time when Arab countries most needed to unite and strengthen cooperation ties among them.
King Abdullah's achievements for the Arab and Muslim worlds will be stated in history, Mahlab said.
Egypt will always remember his support for its people throughout his life, he added.
He condoled with the Saudi people over the death of the "Arab elder".
He expressed confidence in King Salman bin Adel Aziz, who succeeds late king Abdullah, and Crown Prince Muqrin bin Abdel Aziz.
