
Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir returned home Sunday after taking part in the 26th Arab Summit held in the Red Sea resort of the of Sharm el-Sheikh.
In a press conference, Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Karti said the Arab Summit was an ideal opportunity to boost cooperation among Arab states to preserve Arab national security, asserting that several files have been discussed in that regard, notably the Yemeni crisis.
The most important decisions taken by the Arab leaders in the Summit is to form a joint Arab military force to face Arab challenges and combat terrorism, Karti asserted.
Sudan's participation in the Saudi-led coalition of Arab countries comes within the framework of its keenness to bring about stability in Yemen and support the legitimacy of Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, he added.
Also, the Arab Summit touched on the Arab food security initiative put forth by Sudan, he underscored.
Asked about the Sudanese relations with Iran, Karti asserted that Sudan has joint interests with Iran, denying any alliance with it.
