Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab paid a surprise visit to Kasr el Aini hospital late on Wednesday to check on the regularity of medical services in light of the bad weather conditions currently sweeping the country.
Mahlab unveiled the surprise visit during a phone call with CBC satellite channel, saying he listened to the demands of the medical staff on developing services offered at the hospital.
He denied reports on the privatization of university hospitals, saying they are a treasure.
He added that the government is undertaking a number of medical reforms to upgrade the health mechanism in Egypt, to start with amendments to the medical insurance system.
