Egyptian army forces continued on Monday to close Tahrir Square by armored vehicles and barbed wire in the week of protests by university students belonging to the banned Muslim Brotherhood group on Sunday. All entrances of the square were sealed off in anticipation of new protests by the MB students today. More police and security forces were deployed in the precincts of Egypt High Court in downtown Cairo. Around 2,000 university students staged a march from Cairo University till Tahrir Square on Sunday without taking the approval of security authorities. Raising the four-fingered 'Rabaa' salute that referred to the breakup of pro-Morsi supporters at Nahda and Rabaa sit-in camps, the protesters chanted slogans condemning the Armed Forces and the Interior Ministry. Security forces fired tear gas to disperse the protesters, forcing them to retreat to Talaat Harb Square and July 26 Street. Source: MENA
