Eleven Russian seafarers were rescued from the MOL Comfort container ship that wrecked in the Arabian Sea, the Sri Lankan authorities said on Wednesday. They will be delivered to Colombo on Friday. After this a decision on restoring seafarers’ documents and their return to Russia will be taken. The Mol Comfort flying the flag of the Bahamas broke into two parts in a heavy storm on Monday. The ship’s crew that also included 14 Filipinos and one Ukrainian managed to send a distress signal and leave the ship staying in lifeboats. Ships sent to the area of distress by the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre at India’s Mumbai found seafarers.
