Ashton to visit Egypt, Israel Monday

EU High Representative Catherine Ashton has cancelled a visit to south africa scheduled for next week and will instead proceed to the Middle East , Ashton''s spokesperson Maja Kocijancic told journalists here Friday. Ashton will visit Cairo on Monday and Tuesday and then travel to Israel. While in Cairo, Ashton will meet Egyptian and Arab League officials and discuss the need to re-launch the peace process in the Middle East, she said. The EU High Representative will hold similar talks with Israeli authorities, added the spokesperson without giving any further details.
