German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said Monday Daesh can not beaten only be military efforts.
Speaking at a joint press conference with his Iraqi counterpart Ibrahim Al Jaafari in Baghdad, Steinmeier said the Vienna talks conference is a method used by the international community to reach a political settlement in Syria and achieve reconciliation in Iraqi society.
The German foreign minister pledged to provide € 70 million aid to Iraq in 2016.
The German foreign minister added that his country will provide Iraq with military aid, mainly satellite images for Daesh sites.
Steinmeier arrived in Baghdad earlier in the day for a surprise visit.
