In the latest developments of its intensive crackdown on militants in the lawless Sinai Peninsula, Egypt's military aircraft carried out several air raids on hideouts in northern city of Sheikh Zuwaid. At least eight militants were killed and 16 others injured on the ongoing operations in North Sinai Governorate on Tuesday, a security source told the state news agency (MENA). The source added that the death toll could rise later as the operations have not concluded. The raids targeted several hideouts to the anti-government militants, the source said adding that the strikes aim to destroy the infrastructure of the militant groups in the areas. The source also revealed that ground operations will follow the air raids to arrest the remaining militants and confiscates the weapons and ammunitions.
