Egypt's new ambassador to Vatican submits credentials to Pope Francis

Egypt's new Ambassador to the Vatican Hatem Seif Al Nasr submitted his credentials to Pope Francis, Egypt's Foreign Ministry said in a statement Tuesday.

After the ceremony, Seif Al Nasr held a lengthy meeting with the Pope and convoyed him a message from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi about Egypt's vision on the regional and international situation, the statement added.

Also, it touched on ways to confront violence and terror worldwide and suitable methods to deal with the roots of problems hindering the achievement of peace and development as well establishing justice at the international level, according to the statement.

The message also focused on the exerted domstic efforts by the Egyptian state, notably the accomplishment of the road map's steps by holding the Parliamentary polls, the statement read.

During the gathering, the newly-appointed diplomat said that Egypt pays great attention to boosting the historical ties with the Vatican in all fields on the bases of mutual respect and constructive cooperation, the statement underlined.

For his part, the Roman Catholic pontiff has sent a greeting message to the Egyptian leader as he announced his support to the Egyptian efforts to achieve security and stability and face terrorism and violence in the Middle East region, the statement stressed.

Seif Al Nasr also met with Vatican Prime Minister Archbishop Pietro Parolin, the statement said.
